About Me

Susan B. Jacobson, L.M.H.C., P.A.,  A Licensed Florida Psychotherapist

Licensed Mental Health Counselor, National Certified Counselor Mental Health Counselor:

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, National Certified Counselor and a Fellow in Psychotherapy.  I have been practicing since 1995.

The main focus of my work is treating children, individuals, couples and families that are having relationship problems.

Most of my clients are either wanting to keep their family intact and do not know how to resolve issues that have been problematic for many years, or are having difficulty with the divorce/separation process.

Marriage, Divorce, Family & Child Counseling

I believe all individuals can reach the highest potential at home and at work, with the help from a professional, who cares and offers "tailor made" guidance, direction and suggestions.

I am also a Qualified Expert Witness in the Family and Criminal Court Systems and testify often. I take on many cases, as a hypothetical expert witness, which saves my client's money and can provide to the court system needed information to make decisions, that are in the child's best interest.

Many individuals and couples I treat are ordered by the court to receive psychotherapy and / or psychoeducation, such that they can learn how to put their children's needs first, as well as meet other personal and family goals.

I also assist couples, under my care, to receive guidance and direction to create and maintain a parenting plan. Parenting Plans are now a requirement, to be presented to the family courts, to be able to obtain a divorce in Florida. All parenting plans are "tailored made" as no two families are alike and every child is different and has different needs.

In addition, I attend more than the number of continuing education classes required each year, such that I can provide "state of art" and most advanced clinical interventions, to my clients. I want to be the best psychotherapist I can be and staying up to date on the latest research and advanced treatment techniques assists me to reach that goal, each day, with my clients.

I also write a self help column for magazines and published my first book, "Two Wife's...One Tail."
A sequel, entitled, "Two Wife's...No Tail", is being presently written.
